The Energy Training Center at the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) has been awarded the „Energy Globe“ Award for the successful implementation of the project "Raising Students’ and Youth Awareness on Drinking Water and Water Resources," supported by UNICEF.
The project, implemented at the Energy Training Center with UNICEF’s support, aimed to enhance the awareness of students and youth in Georgia’s regions about drinking water quality, water as an energy source, and efficient use of water resources. It also sought to foster interest in energy efficiency and conservation, strengthen the idea of protecting and preserving water resources, and promote the development of sustainable mechanisms for increasing youth engagement.
In addition to training sessions on the importance and characteristics of drinking water quality, the efficient use of water resources, and energy security, the project included public lectures on the role of women in the energy sector and energy specialists as a profession of the future. The project was implemented in eight municipalities across Georgia, involving 400 students.
The award ceremony was held at the Commercial Office of the Austrian Embassy, attended by GNERC Chairman Davit Narmania and representatives of the Energy Training Center, Mariam Ioseliani and Temur Tordinava.
