“On May 26, Georgia’s Independence Day, certain events are being held, therefore difficulties arose with bringing the opposition’s equipment to the site, and that is why the organizers of the gathering received an appropriate response,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said while answering a journalist’s question about the opposition rally planned for May 26.

According to the head of government, anyone in Georgia can hold gatherings, and in this particular case the issue concerned placing specific equipment in a specific location, which caused problems.

“To clarify, everyone can hold gatherings. The issue concerned the placement of specific equipment. You know that May 26 is celebrated, and certain events are connected with the celebration of May 26, therefore difficulties arose with bringing the opposition’s equipment to the site, and that is why the organizers of the gathering received an appropriate response.

As for holding gatherings, everyone in our country can hold gatherings. Moreover, I think it will even be good — these people will once again show their weakness on May 26,” the Prime Minister of Georgia stated.
