Georgia, together with 12 NATO member countries and partners, will take part in the Sea Shield 24 naval exercises, which will be held in Romania on April 8-21, the press service of the Romanian Ministry of Defense reports.

In addition to Romania and Georgia, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Moldova, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, the USA, Turkey and France will take part in the exercises.

The maneuvers will take place on the Black Sea and the Danube River. They will involve more than 2.2 thousand military personnel and 135 units of military equipment. The scenario will include search and rescue operations, combating illegal activities on the river and sea, providing assistance to ships in distress, and ensuring the security of critical infrastructure.

Multinational exercise Sea Shield was first held in 2015. The exercise helps promote Romania's initiatives regionally and internationally, as well as increase the level of interaction between the forces of the participating countries.
