In so-called South Ossetia, restrictions on access to popular services such as YouTube, Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook, and Telegram have been fully lifted. This was reported by the “Res” news agency.

This was stated by Zarina Bezhanova, a representative of “Ostelecom”.

“Restrictions introduced by Roskomnadzor on the territory of the Russian Federation were automatically reflected on our subscribers, since companies purchase internet traffic from Russian operators. Previously, South Ossetia was provided with ‘filtered internet.’ However, we are a sovereign state, and our legislation does not provide for blocking these resources. After technical work was carried out, our users received normal high-speed access to these services without using a VPN,” Bezhanova said.

She noted that despite the lifting of the blocks, when making video calls via WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, and Instagram, subscribers located in Russia may need to use a VPN for a stable connection.
